چکیده
RESEARCHDESIGNANDMETHODSdA total of 844 subjects (44%men; age 49.56 11 years; BMI 296 5 kg/m) participated in this study. Parameters ofb-cell functionwere derived from deconvolution of the plasma C-peptide concentration after a 75-g OGTT and insulin sensitivity assessed by homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (IR). Cardiovascular risk profile was based on determination of plasma lipids and measurements of body weight, waist circumference, and blood pressure. Glucose regulation categories byOGTT andHbA1cwere comparedwith respect to insulin action, insulin secretion, and cardiovascular risk profile.

The relationship between pregnancy weight gain and impaired glucose tolerance test
Impaired glucose tolerance has several adverse effects on growing fetus. In this study we evaluated the effect of excessive weight gain during pregnancy on the risk of glucose intolerance in pregnant women. A case-control study was conducted through which the glucose tolerance status after 100 gram oral glucose intake was compared between 60 pregnant women with maximum 10 weeks of gestation and...
متن کاملOral glucose tolerance test, blood insulin level and lipids metabolism in women with idiopathic hirsutism
It is becoming apparent that is patients with hirsutism, metabolic aberrations are of greater health importance rather than unwanted hair growth.in this respect , evaluation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism was carried out on a group of 92 women with idiopathic hirsutism(IH).these were divided into: obese and non-profit obese groups.seventy healthy subjects were also taken as control group...
متن کاملEthnic differences in cross‐sectional associations between impaired glucose regulation, identified by oral glucose tolerance test or HbA1c values, and cardiovascular disease in a cohort of European and South Asian origin
AIMS We contrasted impaired glucose regulation (prediabetes) prevalence, defined according to oral glucose tolerance test or HbA1c values, and studied cross-sectional associations between prediabetes and subclinical/clinical cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a cohort of European and South Asian origin. METHODS For 682 European and 520 South Asian men and women, aged 58-85 years, glycaemic statu...

متن کاملThe Association between HbA1c, Fasting Glucose, 1-Hour Glucose and 2-Hour Glucose during an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test and Cardiovascular Disease in Individuals with Elevated Risk for Diabetes
OBJECTIVE To determine the association between HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 1-hour (1 hPG) and 2-hour (2 hPG) glucose after an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and cardiovascular disease in individuals with elevated risk for diabetes. DESIGN We studied the relationship between baseline, updated mean and updated (last) value of HbA1c, FPG, 1 hPG and 2 hPG after an oral 75 g glucose t...
